Teardrops

Teardrops upon her cheek he brought
Teardrops which in silence gently sought
Every kiss he had bestowed upon her brow
To softly stem their zealous flow

But that kiss it would come not

The searing warmth of his embrace
The glorious ardour in eyes ablaze

Only agony to her heart it brought
